The Last Shot
Victor Guarisco held his dad’s recurve bow in his hands—a familiar weight, a connection to the past.
Growing up, he’d heard stories of his father’s giant black bear taken in 1969 with a Shakespeare recurve; stories that ignited Victor’s desire to hunt with a bow. Though he took his first bear in 2004, his father’s passing left him with an unfulfilled longing.
In 2018, his son Antonio took his first bear while wearing his grandfather’s old hunting boots, sparking the idea to revive the old bow, untouched for 50 years. After a thorough inspection in 2019, the bow was given new life, but the pandemic delayed their plans for 3 years due to closed borders. Despite the setbacks, Victor’s passion for traditional archery grew stronger.
Now, in the fall of 2024, Victor was ready to face the challenge he’d long dreamed of. With his father’s legacy in his heart and his son behind the camera, Victor stepped forward, this hunt—this shot—wasn’t just for him. It was for his father. For his children. For the past, the present, and the future. And Victor was determined to make it one to remember.
FILMMAKER BIO
Victor Guarisco, founder of FiveOMedia, grew up with a passion for photography and filmmaking, which ignited in 2001 when he had the opportunity to be part of a hunting show while living on the coast of Maine. It was then that he discovered his love for capturing stories through the lens of a camera.
His first camera purchase was the Canon XL1s. He spent many hours in the field with that beast, chasing the craft of continuing to learn how to tell stories from the timber. His passion for cinematography grew hand-in-hand with his interest in editing.
This pursuit became a welcomed escape from the rigors of a career in law enforcement. In 2017 and 2018, he filmed a few weddings, which quickly grew into a business. This business allowed him to take an early retirement after 20 years of service. That same year, along with some like-minded creatives, he launched a hunting / outdoor show named Crimson Trail, where episodic content is created and streamed on CarbonTV and YouTube.
Victor’s son, Antonio, shares his father's passion for cinematography and has joined him in the exciting ventures of FiveOMedia and Crimson Trail. Together, they continue to create compelling, adventure-driven content that reflects their love for storytelling and the great outdoors.
